My Ruined Week

So I’ve been coming in everyday to gauge how much food my mice have been eating. I do this by providing them about 14g of food and weighing it each day to determine how much has been eaten. If I have to refill I must be careful to write down the new quantity so I still know how much has been eaten the next day.

Today was my last day of doing this.

I come in to find that the room with the mice in it is being used, I ask how long it will be occupied and I’m told a few hours. That was disappointing enough but after I reply that I just needed to come in and weigh the food one of the lab techs turns around and says “Oh, are those your mice over there?” I reply in the affirmative and she goes on to inform me that she’s refilled all of their food and then curtly tells me I should have written on the card that they weren’t to be feed and that I should have put the food in the cage and not in the feeding grill anyway because the quantity was small enough that the mice would have trouble being able to access it without it moving around to much.

-_________- Perfect.

I talk to my supervisor and all he has to say is that it’s an important lesson in labelling the cards but dammit I asked him if there was anything else I needed to write on the card D<

*Sigh* Well I guess I’ll just have to make do with the data I have but now I’m worried that the mice really did have trouble accessing the food and if I calorie restrict them to 70% of what they *did* eat in that period they might not be getting enough food :( :(

And I don’t want to calorie restrict them anyway ;w;

Who knows how this is going to turn out. At least I can put it aside for now and not worry about it until Monday, knowing that they at least have plenty of food for now.
